College basketball notebook: Maryland upsets No.4 Duke

Greivis Vasquez scored 20 points, including a clutch basket with 37 seconds left, and No. 22 Maryland beat No. 4 Duke 79-72 last night to move into a tie with the Blue Devils atop the Atlantic Coast Conference.  

Afterward, fans rushed the court to celebrate Maryland's first win over Duke in seven tries.  

Jordan Williams had 15 points and 11 rebounds for the Terrapins (22-7, 12-3), who have won six straight since losing by 21 at Duke on Feb.13.  

Nolan Smith scored 20 for Duke (25-5, 12-3) and Jon Scheyer had 19. The defeat ended the Blue Devils' eight-game winning streak.  

Big Ten No.7 Purdue 74, Indiana 55 - E'Twaun Moore scored 21 points and Chris Kramer added a season-high 18 in his final home game to help host Purdue (25-4, 13-4) beat Indiana (9-20, 3-14). If Purdue wins at Penn State on Saturday, the Boilermakers will earn a share of the Big Ten title.  

Verdell Jones III scored 15 points for Indiana, which lost its 11th straight game.  

No.15 Wisconsin 67, Iowa 40 - Jon Leuer scored 18 points, Trevon Hughes and Jason Bohannon celebrated Senior Night in style and Iowa (10-20, 4-13) didn't offer much resistance for host Wisconsin (22-7, 12-5).  

Hughes scored 15 points while Bohannon added 11 points and a career-high nine rebounds. Wisconsin turned it into a rout early, taking control with an 18-0 run midway through the first half.  

Northwestern 72, Chicago St. 49 - John Shurna scored 16 points and Alex Marcotullio added 15 points to lead host Northwestern (19-11) to a non-conference win over Chicago State (8-22).  

Top 25 men No.2 Kansas 82, No.5 Kansas St. 65 - Sherron Collins had 17 points in his final game at Allen Fieldhouse and Kansas (28-2, 14-1) beat Kansas State (24-5, 11-4) in Lawrence, Kan., to clinch its sixth straight Big 12 regular-season title outright  

Xavier Henry scored 15 of his 19 points in a tight first half and the Jayhawks wore down the Wildcats in a foul-filled game to extend the nation's longest home winning streak to 59 games. Denis Clemente had 21 points and Jacob Pullen scored 15 of his 20 in the first half for Kansas State.  

No.3 Kentucky 80,  

Georgia 68 - John Wall had 24 points and Kentucky (28-2, 13-2) clinched at least a share of the Southeastern Conference regular-season championship by beating host Georgia (13-15, 5-10).  

No.25 Xavier 82, Fordham 56 - Jamel McLean scored 13 of his 16 points in the first half and Xavier (22-7, 13-2) beat host Fordham (2-25, 0-15) in an  

Atlantic 10 game.  

Top 25 women No.20 Oklahoma St. 78, No.13 Iowa St. 70 - Andrea Riley scored 32 points and host Oklahoma State (21-8, 9-6) beat Iowa State (22-6, 10-5) in the Big 12.
